Film Scanning

We offer high-resolution scanning for developed film rolls. Film scans are captured at 6400ppi, which produces beautifully detailed files ideal for both digital archiving and fine art printing.

Service Overview
All scans are captured at a true optical resolution of 6400ppi, and delivered as TIFF files:

  • Raw Scans are unedited and require further adjustment before printing.
  • Premium Scans are cleaned, adjusted and prepared for print.
  • Colour Grading is available as an add-on for Premium Scans, offering advanced colour refinement.

For 35mm negatives scanned at 6400ppi, prints up to 78 × 52 cm at 300ppi are possible. Larger prints may also be achievable depending on the image.

Other Formats

We can also scan medium format film and mounted slides. Get in touch for a quote.

Film Scanning Pricing

We offer three different scanning options, with the difference being the level of post-processing.

Raw Scan - $7.50 per frame
A scan with a basic dust and scratch filter applied. No manual dust removal or retouching.

Premium Scan - $25.00 per frame

A fully edited scan with manual adjustments to exposure, white balance, sharpness, and dust & scratch removal — all done carefully by eye (not an algorithm).

Premium Scan + Colour Grading - $45.00 per frame
Everything included in a Premium Scan, plus a 15-30min in-person studio session to fine-tune colours and tones together on our calibrated monitors, ensuring your scan captures the feeling you’re aiming for in the final print.

Timeframes

  • Raw: Most are ready the same day, though larger collections may take longer.
  • Premium: Allow 1–3 working days, depending on the number of frames.
  • Colour Grading: Completion time depends on when you choose your in-person appointment.

Important Notes

Negatives must be pre-cut before arriving, as we can’t scan uncut rolls. We can scan a strip of four to six frames and isolate your selected images if preferred.
