Edge Deckling

Deckled edges give your prints a soft, torn edge that adds a handcrafted feel. We can deckle prints of any size, on all sides or just some. The effect can be subtle or more dramatic—just let us know your preference.

Paper Limitations
Deckling works best on papers with high cotton content. We stock six beautiful papers (all over 70% cotton) that are perfect for this process.

Sizing Considerations
Deckling involves tearing away paper (10-15mm per side), so your final print size may change. You can choose one of two options:

  • Add extra margin: We’ll deckle the edges without affecting your final print size.
  • Deckle inward: We’ll tear into the print area, so your final print will be slightly smaller (around 10–15mm per side).

The first option will increase your print price (as it uses additional paper), but give you the desired print size. The second option won’t affect your print price, but it will result in a smaller print (approximately 10-15mm per side.

Since each deckle is done by hand, please allow for a small size variation of up to 2mm per side.

Pricing
Your usual print price, plus an $8 fee per deckled print. This covers the extra setup/time required for deckling.
